On this day you will get a sense of the fascinating Zanzibarian culture and people. Zanzibar offers so much more then beautiful white-sand beaches under the palms. It is full of vibrant colors, interesting people and many small villages which still follow their old traditions. The people of Zanzibar are very warm-hearten and welcoming and are always happy to show you a part of their vibrant culture on this tour. Experience ancient healing practices while visiting a underground cave, learn about local housing and living, enjoy a local lunch and visit a sea weed farm and factory. This cultural tour will enrich you with an authentic picture of Zanzibar!

This is a Full-Day guided Tour. You will be picked up at your hotel at around 8:30 am. The first destination of your tour along Zanzibar’s East Coast will be the well-knows Jozani Forest. There you will get the opportunity to see the Red Colobus monkeys, with their iconic red back. Zanzibar is the only place in the world where you can find this beautiful species. Your will get a tour through the monkey forest as well as the bordering mangrove forest. Afterwards, you will continue your tour to Muungoni village where you will visit the Ngonga Cave. There you will get to know many interesting things about the local culture.

Your guide will explain you old traditional medicine treatments and you will meet a witch doctor who will show you how the treatment is done, which crafts they where using as well as what uses they had for their medicine. After your visit to the cave you will make your way to Kizimkazi Village where you will visit the oldest mosque in East Africa, the Dimbani Old Mosque. Afterwards you will explore the village, see local housing and local living. You will get to taste the local cuisine during your local lunch.

The last destination on your tour will be Paje Village on the east coast shore. In Paje you will get to see a local sea weed factory where the local people produce different kind of products out of the ocean green. You will also get to see a sea weed farm, getting to know how they plant and harvest the sea weed. This will conclude your cultural east coast tour. You will be transferred back to your hotel together with great impressions of the local living, culture and nature.
