Prison Island - Changuu Private Island (Stone Town)

This is Half-Day Tour. You will be picked up at your hotel at around 8:30 am and be transferred to Stone Town where your boat will be waiting for you together with your guide and captain. The boat ride will take around 30 minutes. Depending on the tide, you will either start your trip with a dip in the azure waters to explore the underwater marine life in front of the island, or you will go directly on the island and do the snorkeling afterwards. On the island you will be glad to see one of the biggest turtle species in the world: the Giant Turtle. They can weight up to 250 kg and some on the island are over 150 years old.

While exploring the island, your guide will provide you with informative knowledge about the vegetation and the wildlife on the island. Furthermore, you will visit the old building which gave the island it’s famous name: the prison. Even though it has never acted as a prison, visitors can still see the construction and learn about the history of how it was used instead. Afterwards you will head back to the shore and be transferred back to your hotel.
